Our school began to develop English curriculum through participation in the “Quality English Language Education at Pre-primary Level Project” held by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) in former years.” Our teaching team and kindergarten English group work together to develop English curriculum, laying the groundwork for our school-based English courses. Over time, we’ve crafted a unique English program that includes engaging activities like shared reading, phonics, singing nursery rhymes, and show & tell. Our commitment is to provide a rich language environment and learning experiences, making children’s interest in English and boosting their confidence and abilities in using the language
Shared Reading
Shared Reading involves reading picture books together to help young children develop language skills, expand their vocabulary, and cultivate an interest in English. Meaningful and enjoyable activities are used to reinforce key vocabulary and sentences from the books.
Phonics
Phonics helps young children understand the relationship between letters and sounds, improving their reading and spelling abilities.
Songs, Rhymes and Games
English songs and nursery rhymes are excellent tools for engaging children in learning English. Through singing, music activities, and role-playing, teachers help children understand the meaning of lyrics and deepen their learning memory while fostering a sense of language rhythm.
Show and Tell
Based on children’s interests and preferences, Show and Tell encourages them to express their thoughts, experiences, and feelings in English. This enhances their oral communication skills, boosts their listening and speaking abilities, and builds their confidence in expressing themselves.
